Cultural tour of Rajasthan

Duration: 15 Nights and 16 Days


Places Covered : Delhi - Samode - Mandawa - Kuchaman - Deogarh - Devigarh - Mount Abu - Udaipur - Nimaj - Jaipur - Fatehpur Sikri - Agra.

Jama Masjid, Delhi

Day 01: Arrive Delhi

On arrival, the guest will be met by our representative and transferred to the hotel.
Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 02: Delhi

Enjoy a morning tour of Old Delhi, where you can visit the ancient monument of Red Fort and crowded bazaars of Chandni Chowk, one of the most popular places to shop at. Later you can visit Jama Masjid, the greatest mosque in India and the Raj Ghat.

A tour to New Delhi where you can visit the Qutab Minar and the colorful Birla Mandir.Besides this; a drive along Rajpath would let you see sights as the Parliament, President's Palace, and India Gate. In the late evening leave for Pathankot. Overnight stay on the train.

Day 03: Delhi - Samode

On cultural tour of Rajasthan our first main destination would be Samode. It is situated at a distance of about 260 kms. Arrive and check-in at the hotel. The small principality of Samode lies 50 kms northwest of the city of Jaipur and dates back to the 16th Century. The construction of this fort began 400 years ago and each successive ruler added to the fort and the palace.

The comfortable palace is today full of architectural delights with stately corridors, frescoed walls and ethereal audience halls, harmoniously reflecting the skill of master craftsmen. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 04: Samode - Mandawa

In the morning drive to Mandawa, which is situated at a distance of about 100 km. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. Take a tour of the town where you can find a painted arched gateway adorned with Lord Krishna and his cows. You can wander through the streets where mansions of rich merchants are adorned with elaborate & lively frescoes, cataloging the life, habits and rituals of the Marwari community; here one can find a true picture of the Rajasthani culture. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 05: Mandawa - Kuchaman

Morning drive to Kuchaman, which is situated at a distance of about 90 kms. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel. Visit the Kuchaman Fort, built between 450-750 A.D to control the ancient trade from Central Asia. It has 32 bastions that house cannon points, thousands of muzzle loader ports from which pellets were showered upon enemies, 10 strategic gates and various secret passages and escape tunnels. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 06: Kuchaman - Deogarh

Next morning drive to Deogarh, situated at a distance of about 240 kms. Upon arrival, check-in at hotel. Afternoon visit Deogarh Mahal - built in 1670 A.D., the Mahal stands at a height of 2100 ft. above sea level with its bold battlements, domed turrets and balconies offering a commanding view of the surrounding Aravalli mountains and its rugged rock-strewn countryside dotted by a number of lakes. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Devigarh

Day 07: Deogarh - Devigarh

Morning drive to Devigarh, situated at a distance of about 90 kms. Upon arrival, check-in at hotel. Here you can visit the 18th century Devigarh Fort Palace, located in the Aravalli hills of Rajasthan. Sajja Singh, who hailed from the neighboring state of Gujarat, was awarded this strategically significant principality, in recognition of his bravery and loyalty to Maharana Pratap against the Mughal emperor Akbar, at the battle of Haldighati (1576). The actual construction of the fort palace started in the 1760s, under Raghudev Singh II, with further additions being made to the structure by the rulers who followed.

The Fort is now a unique all-suite boutique hotel, with 23 suites and 6 tents. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 08: Devigarh - Mount Abu

Morning drive to Mount Abu situated at a distance of about 120 kms. Enroute visit the Ranakpur Temples. These magnificent 15th century Jain temples are situated in the deep secluded valley of the Aravalli Hills. In the center is the main "Chaumukha temple" dedicated to Adinath. The most distinctive features are the 29 halls supported by 1444 pillars, of which no two are exactly alike. Every conceivable surface is carved and every corner and angle is engraved with Jain images. Thereafter continue drive to Mount Abu and upon arrival, check-in at hotel.

A pleasant retreat set amidst the lush forested hills, Mt. Abu is a green oasis in the barren desert of Rajasthan, situated at the southern tip of the Aravalli Range. In the afternoon, visit the Nakki Lake, the islets in the artificial lake and the rock formations on the sides are of interest. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 09: Mount Abu - Udaipur

On this cultural tour you can visit Mt. Abu home to exquisite Dilwara Jain temples. These beautifully carved temples were built between 11th and 13th century A.D. The Vimal Vasahi temple is the oldest of these dedicated to the first Tirthankara. Built in 1031 A.D. Another is Luna Vasahi temple and Adhar Devi temple with its many stairs is a tourist attraction. Afternoon drive to Udaipur situated at a distance of about 190 kms. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel.

Late afternoon enjoy a boat cruise on the placid waters of Lake Pichola. From the lake you have a wonderful view of the City Palace stretching along the east bank, while the south bank has pleasant gardens running down to the waterside. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 10: Udaipur - Nimaj

Morning city tour of Udaipur, one of India's most romantic cities and famed for its lovely palaces and lakes. Begin by visiting the City Palace and wandering through its beautiful rooms and apartments. Then visit the Garden of Maidens, also called "Sahelion-ki-bari". Afternoon drive to Nimaj, situated at a distance of 280 kms. Upon arrival in Nimaj, check-in at hotel.

Visit Jagram Durg, situated in Nimaj village of Pali district in Rajasthan. Built in 1773 by Thakur Jagram Singhji, the fort has witnessed many battles in the past. Care has been taken to retain the original character of the place, though all modern amenities have been added to it. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 11: Nimaj

At Nimaj you can visit the temples built in the 9th century. Later in the evening enjoy a ride on the jeep safari to Chattarsagar reservoir, home to ducks and waterfowls. This place is perfect for bird watching and viewing the spectacular sunset. Dinner at the fort.

Day 12: Nimaj- Jaipur

In the morning drive to Jaipur, which is situated at a distance of about 140 km. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel.

Thereafter take a short tour of the impressive Amber Fort, situated on a ridge just outside Jaipur City. Here you can enjoy a ride on the caparisoned elephant. The construction of the Fort was completed in the early 18th century and offers a fascinating insight into the lifestyle of the Rajput ruling families.

Day 13: Jaipur

Take a tour of the Pink City of Jaipur, spectacularly set within surrounding rugged hills, dotted with ancient ruined fortresses. Your cultural tour will include the imposing City Palace. Here you can find many antiques and artifacts belonging to the ruling family, including a collection of weaponry. Also visit the Hawa Mahal "Palace of the Winds", and the open-air Jantar Mantar Observatory to see the vast astronomical instruments.

Fatehpur Sikri

Day 14: Jaipur - Fatehpur Sikri - Agra

From Jaipur now we would move on to the city of Agra, situated at a distance of about 260 Kms. Enroute visit Fatehpur Sikri, the red sandstone city built by Emperor Akbar as his capital and palace in the 16th century. Also visit the Bulund Darwaza the largest gateway in the world.

Continue your drive to the main city of Agra, on arrival, check-in at the hotel. Later in the afternoon, take a tour of the city. Here you can visit the famous Taj Mahal, which forms one of the most important places to be visited on this cultural tour. Emperor Shah Jahan constructed the Moghul monument in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The central structure of the monument has four small domes surrounding the huge, central dome. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 15: Agra - Delhi

After lunch leave for Delhi, situated at a distance of about 203 kms. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. You can enjoy shopping at Delhi. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 16: Delhi

Early morning transfer to the International airport to catch a flight to your onward destination.
