Built by a rich merchant named Faridu's Khan in 1562, Nizamuddin Tomb is visited both by Hindu and Muslims in India. Hazrat Nizamuddin Tomb is a place to pay homage to Sheikh Hazrat Nizamuddin, who was born in Uttar Pradesh in 1236. It was he who commanded great Mughal emperors like Humayun, Babur, Jahangir, Shah Jahan, Akbar and so on.
At the famous Nizamuddin Shrine you will also find a mosque and tombs of many other well known people. Devotees from all over come and tie red threads on the lattice screens of Nizamuddin Tomb in order to pray for the fulfillment of their wishes. Twice every year, the Festival of Urs is held here to commemorate the anniversaries of Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia and Amir Khusrau and devotees make it a point to visit Nizamuddin Tomb during that time.
